Here's what I've been reading...

Veronica Ruiz Breaks the Bank by Elle Cosimano | FINISHED

This was a pleasant surprise! I almost skipped this one—I don’t always vibe with short stories—but I’m so glad I didn’t!

I thought this would be a direct continuation of what happens with Vero in the fourth Finlay Donovan book, but it wasn’t at all. Instead, it perfectly set up Vero’s history, her story, and how she and Finlay met. It also did a great job of showing why Vero has never hesitated to help Finlay through all the craziness that is their lives.

Out of the Woods by Hannah Bonam-Young | FINISHED

Based on the other books I’ve read by Hannah, I knew I was going to enjoy this one. What I didn’t know was that it would introduce me to some storylines and tropes I’d never really read before—but apparently love.

This is the story of two high school sweethearts who are having some issues in their marriage. They decide to go away on a couples' retreat to reconnect with each other—but more importantly, to reconnect with themselves. Our FMC has some great moments, realizing she has lost who she is when her husband isn’t there.

This book also beautifully showcases a married couple who have made the decision not to have kids—and it’s accepted by everyone around them.

I think so many people living in this season of life will find a lot of relatable thoughts and moments in this story. It was such a refreshing read. I’d recommend checking out the triggers—the author includes them right at the front of the book, which is so helpful!

Raybearer by Jordan Ifueko | IN PROGRESS

I’ve actually made some decent progress on this one. I think with my busy schedule, fantasy books are just taking me a little longer. My brain needs a bit of extra time!

I’ve found myself a little lost at times—totally my fault. Like when I completely missed that we had jumped four years into the future. I’m trying to be kind to myself. I hate when books take me multiple weeks, but sometimes that’s needed, and that’s okay.

I’m enjoying the story and characters. There’s a lot happening, and I’m looking forward to continuing!

Finlay Donovan Digs Her Own Grave by Elle Cosimano | IN PROGRESS

I’m only a few chapters in and can already tell this is going to be great.

When you start a book in a preschool principal’s office because Finlay's daughter stood up for herself and her naked, potty-training brother (who may or may not pee on said principal’s floor), you really can’t go wrong.

I don’t know what else to say other than... GO READ THIS SERIES!
